Postgres 12 drops OIDs as special hidden columns

Interesting article about Postgres changing with version 12 to ostensibly become more TTM-conformant with respect to no longer having special hidden OID columns in its data dictionary tables or as an option in regular user tables.  These have become regular visible columns.

All to the good, methinks, though I'd argue in favour of eventually dispensing with OID columns entirely.
