Subscriptions including our own posts
Quote from Darren Duncan on October 24, 2018, 5:41 amUnder "Subscriptions" in this forum I chose "New Topics & Posts you get notified about all new topics and posts." and while it generally seems to be working, I just made a post several minutes ago but I didn't get a copy of it emailed to me. I expect to be receiving the whole threads, including both what I post and others post, in my mailbox. Is there just an unnecessary lag or is it set to not do that? If this is intentional, then please change the board so it sends me copies of my own posts too. I expect I will be holding back on posting until I know I'll get mine back too. Thank you.

If you've posted something you feel is worth archiving, copy it to a document.

While a reasonable workaround for someone who posts infrequently, copying to a document is quite onerous for someone who posts more frequently. Can you please alter the forum to change that logic?

Sorry, no. I'd have to either break compatibility with future updates or create a plugin. I'm not convinced the return on investment is worth the effort to create and maintain either one.

Or push the change back to the source so its included in the standard version.

That assumes the original author accepts my patch. He might not -- and probably won't, because self-notification is usually considered undesirable -- and I'd still have to be convinced that the value of the facility is worth the effort to provide it.

Quote from Dave Voorhis on October 24, 2018, 3:45 pmOf course, if you'd like to provide the a facility to let users enable or disable self-notification -- and can convince the author of the forum plugin to support your patch, or you can provide it as a supported Wordpress plugin -- then I'm happy to install it.
If you wish to pursue this, it's the Asgaros Forum, from https://wordpress.org/plugins/asgaros-forum/

I intend to do as you say, contact the original author to make a feature request to choose self-notification as an option, and if necessary submit a pull request.
